The Sigiriya Rock Fortress, renowned for its abandoned palaces, gardens, waterways, and frescoes, holds significant historical importance in Sri Lanka and remains one of the country’s most popular cultural heritage sites. The hike begins at Pidurangala Sigiri Rajamaha Viharaya, a white temple situated at the base of the rock. For those planning a sunrise hike, we recommend visiting the ruins of Pudurangala Temple on the return journey, as sunrise approaches.
